Jordan is the best. I was a professional ballet dancer for sixteen years and was dealing with trying to get back in shape after a few sedentary years post retirement. Nothing worked at all, and I tried. I started training with Jordan in January of this year, and am back in a body that I am proud of, even as a totally psycho ex-dancer.
Jordan is a genius. He knows anatomy so well that any problem I've had whether flexibility or injury he has me do some seemingly minor/basic exercises that result in significant/dramatic and immediate improvements. It's hard to even explain what he does - its like magic. I'm gaining back flexibility that I haven't had in over 20 years. I'm excited about growing older - it doesn't mean I have to lose flexibility, gain weight or feel pain...I can't say enough things about Jordan. He's amazing and a true jewel that I've been fortunate enough to run across.
I suffered a major heart attack in March 2015 and was debilitated beyond belief after my open heart surgery. Jordan’s expertise with fixing the problems with functional movements tremendously improved my strength and endurance. Jordan pushes the clients through any self-imposed limits and he does it with client’s safety as the primary goal. To describe him in one sentence:”Jordan is a genius”!
Jordan has a tremendous amount of knowledge and expertise. He is a skilled diagnostician with a keen eye for functional movement. His intuition is spooky scary. I’ve been seeing Jordan for over 4 years and the results speak for themselves.
Well, what can I say other than Jordan is great at kicking your ass. My boyfriend and I have been working with him for a couple weeks (attending group classes) and I have nothing but great things to say. I didn't know anything about kettlebells before attending his classes. I live in downtown Palo Alto so I had walked by the studio a few times and wondered about it, then I saw on Yelp that he was offering free 2 week trials. After doing 2 weeks of group classes we have decided to stick with it. Jordan is great about teaching you new moves while still keeping an eye on your form. I would definitely recommend Jordan and his studio.
I was totally confused and mixed up about kettlebell training techniques, but after one session with Jordan I'm seeing the light! He was a joy to work with--clear, concise, informative, etc.
I cannot recommend him highly enough!
I'm already scheduled to see him again next week!
A FANTASTIC personal trainer.
I got into Z health about half a year ago and met Jordan at my first seminar. Since then I have been to several meetings that he has organized and ran at his facility. This guy most certainly knows his stuff. Most of the time I was simply listening and learning as much as I could about whichever topic he was talking about. He has an amazing amount of knowledge that can be far more helpful than you would have ever expected from a Personal Trainer. No matter what your goal is Jordan can get you there, and probably faster with less effort. I would definitely recommend him!
Jordan is outstanding: patient, knowledgeable, inspiring, observant. Cannot recommend him highly enough.
Jordan Vezina has introduced me to next level training and beyond with Z Health principles applied in a practical way to what I am doing with Kettlebells and running. He is really on the cutting edge. I am looking forward to learning more and constantly refining and taking it all to the next level. Thanks Jordan. You are on it.
Jordan is by far the most patient, knowledgeable and interesting person in the physical training profession I have worked with. For the past two and half years Jordan and I have been re-patterning my nervous system and muscles to correct and revive all bodily functions from eyes to toes! Looking back at what I used to be able to do and what I can do now will keep me training with Jordan for years to come.
I love the work outs he puts together for me, and his approach has helped me in numerous aspects of my life; nutrition, sleep, pain control, and general wellness. I can't recommend Jordan highly enough.
Jordan is an excellent Kettlebell instructor. I started taking his class during the summer and now I"m hooked. The first time I tried Kettlebell I was sore for a couple days. The exercises Jordan teaches are great for a full body workout! I highly recommend Jordan as a kettlebel instructor and a personal trainer. He is also highly trained at TRX. Try it out, you will not regret it!
I am a personal trainer working in San Francisco and I have been extremely impressed working with Jordan. He and I have attended a number of Z Health training conferences and he has held follow up trainings for us to get better. I would definitely consider him a mentor for me in the training industry. I have also seen a few of the services he has in place for his personal training clients and feel he has done a great and very thorough job putting these together.
Jordan was my personal instructor (1:1 sessions) over the period of about a year. I saw incredible strength and stability gains and appreciated Jordan’s expertise and unwillingness to let me get away with anything. After returning to my weight lifting program for a time, I was amazed at how much more I could pull than before starting with kettlebells.
Okay, okay. You've read all the other fawning reviews. Jordan is sensitive. Jordan knows so much. Jordan is like family. Not really. Jordan is a pain in the ass; an unrelenting pain in the ass, to be exact. He is focused on only one thing: improving your strength, flexibility, and endurance. He offers none of the niceties I've come to expect from trainers: pleasant chit chat, constant ego boosts, inquiries about my work and private life. Nope. He's just focused on making me work hard to get results . . . . which I have in so many realms after nothing really worked with other trainers. He's obsessed . I'd only suggest you train with him if you want results, otherwise, truthfully, he's a pain in the ass.
Jordan really is amazing! He is super knowledgeable and fun to work with. He is great about modifying my workouts to my abilities. I spent five years having daily back spasms, doctors told me it was just my reality after my car accident. I don't have back spasms anymore and my range of motion has improved so much, it's incredible. I'm so thankful!
AND Now that I'm no longer in pain we are working on what's really important... getting sexy and healthy!!
I have been a client of Jordan's for six months and am so impressed with his knowledge and his ability to transform my 45 year old body into something that I am proud of again. At first I was a bit fearful of kettlebells - I had no experience and wondered if it was just too challenging for me, Jordan accessed my strength and flexibility; prepared workouts and homework that suited my abilities and time obligations with two kids. I could not be happier with the results and the education I am receiving at each session. It is hard but so rewarding when you walk of of the studio after each work out.
Jordan, the owner of Average to Elite, is an amazing trainer! After my first session at A2E, I was already moving and feeling better than I had in months. Z-Health is AMAZING! It should be standard in every gym and physical therapy office. I suffer from chronic migraines and since I started training with J, they've decreased by approximately 65%. It's not just about reaching your weight loss goals, it's about changing your body and the way it functions for optimal health. To feel better, stronger, healthier, and more physically fit than you ever have before, train with Jordan. You won't be disappointed.
Jordan really is the best in the business. Jordan not only delivers results, he FIXES YOU. Not only do you end up strong and with a killer bod, but all those nagging pains and dysfunctions? Gone. He had my body moving/functioning better than it has my entire life.
Jordan and I served together as assistant instructors at the Camp Pendleton RKC of 2009. I found him to be a very effective communicator with a stealthy sense of humor. Jordan has an impressive depth and range of knowledge when it comes to kettlebells, Hardstyle principles and the pragmatic realities of training for combat. I look forward to working with Jordan again, and I highly recommend him as a trainer for athletes and non-athletes at all levels.
Jordan is well-versed in the art and science of the kettlebell and in nutrition and health in general. He has a unique style that makes you comfortable even while being literally pushed to your limits and beyond. You will be surprised how much work you can get done in 45 minutes. Just show up ready to go and let Jordan guide you through a workout program specifically tailored to your needs and abilities. Be prepared to be blown away with what your body can learn to do.
Pre-Jordan: 4 years of severe back pain, 3+ years of chiropractors, 2+ years of physical therapy. Recommendation to do 2-5 pounds dumb-bells. Hated exercising. (I am in my 30s)
Post Jordan: pain free (and have a very good idea of how to rid the pain if it rears it head). I reached 200 pounds in dead-lift. Loved Kettle ball and his general take on exercising.
I had to discontinue and I miss him - I have serious withdrawal symptoms :-/ since discontinuing with him.
He is awesome and I am longing to go back to him.
I suffered a major heart attack in March 2015 and was debilitated beyond belief after my open heart surgery. As a fellow professional with 16 years in the field of coaching and a lifetime of athletics I respect and value the work by Jordan. He is dedicated to excellence both for himself and those whom he trains, educates, etc. meticulous, curious, honesty and as evident in all the other reviews a truly exceptional coach! I follow what he does and learn from him regularly. Simply put he brings out the best in others!
Jordans impact in my life has been so much greater than he realizes. His approach to training/educating has directly resulted in unparalleled progression in my fitness and my fitness business. I cant say enough about that so I wont try to here. If you arent sold already by all these reviews, email me directly and I will be happy to.
Dr. Morris Budak
Knowledgeable and conscientious, Jordan will take you from where you are to the levels you desire with care and consideration for the prevention of injury. There is no “cookbook” approach here. Everything he does for you is individualized for your particular needs. His low key attitude provides for the very best in promoting the client/trainer relationship. No question about it, Jordan is the personal trainer to use.
This boutique fitness studio is beyond compare. Jordan Vezina uses his expertise and draws on his vast didactic and experiential knowledge to provide the very best that there is in personal fitness training. Everything is individualized and meticulous. This business can get no better a rating in my humble opinion.
I contacted Jordan after reading his great reviews on Yelp. My goals were to lose weight and become stronger for an upcoming cruise in October. I am super happy with the results so far and I could not have done it without Jordan! He is one of the best trainers in the bay area. Plus, he is super funny!!
Working with Jordan was such an awesome experience. I was in a bit of a fitness slump, and came to Jordan to try to get reenergized. He helped me work out some pain I was having in my hips, and just generally wowed me with his knowledge about the body and how we can make simple adjustments to improve mobility and strength. Unfortunately, I outside circumstances meant I couldn't work with Jordan for very long, but I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an awesome, supportive (and hilarious) personal trainer.
This guy. Soft spoken, calm, observant and then BAM. You realize you are interacting with someone who knows a LOT about a LOT. If you want to get strong, alleviate pain, be SMART and sustainable about your training, this guys is amazing. He actually knows science and WHY you are doing what you are doing and you are not going to be put on a template program. He actually cares. Go for it, trust it, watch results happen.
Jordan's been working with my little brother. He's helped him get healthier, stronger, and more confident. Although he leaves the studio drenched and tired, he's always eager to go again. That's quite an achievement when working with a fourteen year old. We couldn't ask for a better trainer.
Jordan has a tremendous amount of knowledge and expertise. He is a skilled diagnostician with a keen eye for functional movement. His intuition is spooky scary. I've been seeing Jordan for over 4 years and the results speak for themselves.
Alyssa Chang at Average to Elite Performance is one of the best trainers in the business. Alyssa is totally client centered-- she listens to you, pays attention to your goals and priorities and then ever so subtly challenges you to push yourself beyond where you could ever go on your own.
Alyssa is very sensitive to my ups and downs and modifies my work out accordingly. When my back starts acting up or my knee bothers me, Alyssa pays attention to helping with the pain in the short term and correcting what led to the pain in the long term. She is a true partner, helping you to meet your goals and findi ways to integrate health and fitness into your life forever.

I saw incredible strength and stability gains and appreciated Jordan's expertise and unwillingness to let me get away with anything. Highly recommend. And congrats to Jordan on his RKC Team Leader achievement!
My Name is Dr. Donald Berry
I am a Chiropractor, a Kungfu Teacher and a Strength Coach. Jordan's Insights and Videos have been a great source of learning for me. I look at his kettlebell techniques as the standards that I try and reach. I send my Patients/ Clients/ Friends and Family to his site for instruction. He's a fine Man and a Greta Coach!
Training with Jordan is unlike any other training experience. His knowledge and understanding of human anatomy and neurology is simply unmatched in the industry. He took the time to create a training plan specifically for me and my goals. Not only have I regained range of motion and ability from a previous injury, I've lost weight and am most certainly the strongest I've ever been. He doesn't just address strength gains and weight loss goals, he also works through limitations and restrictions as well. Instead of avoiding an area of the body (due to previous injury) he addresses the problem and works to fix it. Jordan makes training fun, and infuses his wonderful sense of humor into his training sessions. Each session is focused on my personal goals, as well as ensuring optimal mobility and function. I finally feel like my body is moving the way it's meant to. He has gone above and beyond, and is truly a healer! Thanks, Jordan!!
Wow! Kettlebells are a fantastic workout. I thought I was in pretty decent shape, until the day that I first tried the kettlebells with Jordan. This workout will get you sweating and the blood pumping in no time.
I could feel myself sweating buckets and panting like crazy. I look at the clock and I have only been working out for 15 minutes. Kettlebells will put all your other workouts to shame.
I signed up for training sessions and classes. Jordan is a fantastic trainer. Very effective and good about making sure that you have correct form, while keeping you constantly challenged. You will NOT have an easy workout. But heck, to get fit, you have to work hard. It ain't going to be easy.
I totally recommend Jordan and both his training sessions and classes!
There should be someone to carry you to your car after a session with Jordan.
I felt great after my first visit with Jordan, although going home very tired and ready for bed...then I tried to take a shower the next day. I realized I'd temporarily lost the use of my arms, as well as the ability to walk properly. I would seriously consider investing in a handicap placard before seeing Jordan.
He has been an extremely enlightening human being though. He has made me learn several things about myself, such as...
I'm a complete masochist
I have the ability to hate inanimate objects, such as foam
I can sweat absolute buckets
'Plank' and 'ok' are now on my list of bad words
Although I routinely tell Jordan I hate him and that he's the devil (which I usually really do mean) he is very entertaining and his methods are effective. I can tell I'm getting in better shape than I've been in for a very long time, and he pushes me farther than I could ever push myself. Definitely not your run-of-the-mill 18 year old who doesn't know what to do with his life so he starts "training" people. He actually knows what he's doing and it shows.
So if you enjoy bad dancing, even worse jokes, ridiculous slogans and more importantly, want to get in fabulous shape, give Jordan a call.
I took a 5 hour workshop with Jordan in preparation for an RKC certification course. It was the best possible use to time and money to that end. He gave me invaluable mental prep and form critique, as well as specific advice on the business of training that one can only glean from years of experience.
Most importantly, he pointed out that my shoulder mobility issues are originating in my thoracic spine and not my rotator cuff. I have been doing shoulder stretches for weeks to correct it and having limited results. That simple, "Hey, you have a tight t-spine" comment has saved me months of frustration and might possibly save my RKC certification test.
I've been through 3 work out routines in the last 5 years: typical gym-rat press/curl/whatever machines, CrossFit, and Jordan's kettle bell sessions. Not only have Jordan's workouts provided the most noticeable impact on my strength, the work outs have been sustainable. Have no delusions, Jordan's workouts will slay you, but you won't feel like you've damaged yourself to get it done (like some CrossFit WODs). This is probably because he's a stickler for form. Expect constant corrections, no matter how well you think you can swing the damn bell.
All that said, probably the best part is goading him into teaching you strong man feats 😉 Bending nails is damn satisfying.
UPDATE: I just did a VO2 challenge with some friends from work (both cut guys) and I crushed it. I did about 10% more than my buds. Kettlebell swings the are king of excersizes.
I met Jordan a few years ago when I first got introduced to the weird "cannonball-with-a-handle" fitness tool during a martial arts seminar at the Inosanto Academy. Since my instructor didn't believe I could go and knock someone out, I was given the mandate to develop more explosive power and work on my cardio. This was when I decided to find out more about kettlebells and started looking for kettlebell instructors in the area, and luckily I found Jordan and was subsequently exposed to the world of functional strength training.
I came to Jordan with horrible conditioning and even worse body mechanics, and somehow, he's managed to sort both these issues out. When I started training with Jordan, I could barely complete one set of 20 swings on the 12kg without being close to passing out. Training under Jordan, I've reached some milestones I never thought I'd ever be capable of, from doing swings on the 24kg, renegade rows on the 16kg, pistols, and even my first dead hang pull-up. These days it's even about improving my vision to improve my movement, something I hadn't really thought would be a vital component to training, but apparently it is, and I've already noticed improvement in my hand speed and movement tracking abilities in my martial arts training.
What I've always been impressed with about Jordan is that he has an almost Dr. Frankenstein-like attitude toward learning - he's always experimenting (now I don't know if he's ever built a monster in his basement, but I almost believe he'd actually be capable of pulling that off if he tried), tweaking things here and there, and trying to find out not only what works, but what works best. And I've always felt that he has a sincere desire to see his clients attain their goals. I keep training in martial arts because there are always new things to learn, techniques to refine, and I will happily make it my lifetime pursuit to attain self-perfection in the martial arts. For that same reason, while I haven't always been able to train consistently due to schedule constraints and have gone on long stretches of training on my own, I've always been drawn back to training with this guy. I know I can count on Jordan to keep learning and growing, and whatever new things he picks up in Z-Health and other sources he'll apply to our training sessions if it's applicable to my goals. I would highly recommend him as a strength coach, movement specialist, and overall fitness professional.
Let me preface this by saying that I am not a fan of 99.99999% of the "fitness professionals" out there. And, as a fellow fitness professional with 20 years of experience under my belt, I've met plenty of them. When I look at other fitness folks, I concentrate not only on how much they know, but on their ability to apply the information, their drive to learn more, their passion, and their commitment to their clients and their chosen field. Most folks in this business have simply passed an exam so that they can call themselves "Personal Trainer." From there, they become "Bored person checking cellphone while giving client back pain," or perhaps "Person who equates driving clients to quivering, puking, sweaty messes to proper training procedures."
That having been said, Jordan Vezina meets and surpasses every quality I look for in a fitness professional. I respect him more than words can say. He talks the talk. He walks the walk. He knows his stuff, and he knows how to apply it. Jordan WILL make you better, faster, stronger. If you have pain, he will get you out of it. If you have trouble touching your toes, he will get you there. If you want to learn how to do some awesome flower arrangements... well, for all I know, he might be able help you do that, too, but you have to ask nice.
I do not take reviewing my fellow fitness professionals lightly. And I can say whole-heartedly that if you're in the Palo Alto area, you would be remiss not to visit Average to Elite Performance.
Bring your own flowers.
I've just moved down to SoCal and even with the plethora of trainers down here in LA, I can't find anyone with the skill and experience that Jordan has. Before moving, I trained with Jordan for about a year. I came to him after other trainers in SF recommended him to me due to my joint pain. I wasn't even able to do a simple squat without my knees killing me for about a year until I met Jordan. He figured out my alignment issues in the first session and had me doing squats right away without pain! After that, he was always helping me find new ways to improve my joints issues through diet and exercise, always pushing me to maximize my workouts while staying pain free. After a year of training with him, I had my knee pain fairly under control and even started to be able to run again - a huge accomplishment for someone that hadn't jogged in over a year and half!
If you want and need a truly professional trainer with knowledge and experience in training people with injuries, stop looking! Jordan is the trainer for you! Btw, he is also a fantastic person and has a pretty hilarious dry sense of humor.
I am a sports massage therapist and an Active Release Instructor. My sport of choice is ultra cycling and I use running for cross training. I have been a personal trainer and strength and conditioning specialist for over 20 years. I have worked with and trained under many other personal trainers in the past. Jordan is one of the best I have met.
Last week climbing up Page Mill Road (8 miles/2000 feet) I dropped 10 minutes off of my time. I have also increased my running mileage with less effort. Every time that I show up for my session Jordan is on the floor stretching. As a therapist I know that prevention is very important to Jordan. I feel confident that he can continue to show me new levels of my own fitness and endurance.
I would highly recommend Jordan for anyone who is interested in efficient, no nonsense instruction, attention and perfection. Jordan is focused; detail orientated and will keep you on track to achieve your unknown potential.
I first went to Jordan because I had just suffered through 2 ACL reconstruction surgeries (of the same knee). I was looking for someone who could offer personal training that was above the typical service one would get from a gym.
I've worked with Jordan for almost a year now and he is exceptional. I am a healthier person now than compared to before. There are things that I have built into my habit now, things like rolling on the squishy therapy balls and ankle exercises. There are things that I never would have imagined myself doing, like swinging a kettlebell around with aplomb or believing that I could do pull-ups. There are so many things that he does that it's hard to understand what makes him so great. I'll attempt to enumerate some of the things I've noticed. (1) He is skilled at noting dysfunctions in your body (I didn't even know that I was walking while "dragging" my ankles). (2) he treats the body holistically where trouble areas in one affects the other. (3) He doesn't sell you on "quick" solutions, so you won't hear things like "if you just do a bajillion crunches every day, you'll have a six-pack". (4) He understands that people have busy schedules and always strives to give you the most efficient workout in each session. (5) He deeply cares about techniques; he will spend a huge amount of time and patience making sure that you use the right technique to perform that exercises; quality vs. quantity.
His rates are high, and one would not see the value of the relationship until many sessions in. For those willing to devote that time, I cannot recommend him highly enough.
Jordan is the dude.
I'm training for the San Jose RKC in 2010 and rely on Jordan's knowledge and "trainer-eye" to help me correct the form problems and what I've recently discovered as flexibility issues.
It's been a discovery process to have someone like Jordan examine the movements I've been taking for granted and have them turned upside down. Disconcerting, yet a relief at the same time knowing that my strength and abilities are about to jump another notch, which is exactly what happens when you work with this guy.
I'm not usually a 'believer' when it comes to stuff like this, but I've completely sucked down the Jordan Kool-aid. ALL GOOD!!
I have been in the fitness industry for several years and have been in and out of countless gyms in California and the surrounding states. I have had the honer of working with Master instructors and team leaders from the RKC, master instructors from Z-Health, and global authorities in most disciplines of our field. That being said I wouldn't dare use the title of Personal Trainer when describing Jordan. Jordan shares the same sharp professional methodology that only the elite command. Jordan is a RKC team leader which is a title that takes due diligence to obtain and reflects the caliber of his service. I have attended one certification and two workshops which Jordan had instructed and I walked away with something new and invaluable every time. I have also noticed that Jordan's hunger for knowledge is insatiable. Every time I attend a workshop from this guy he has a new certification. It's getting a little out of hand and becoming an annoyance to keep up with the amount of information he knows. The only thing from stopping this guy from excelling even further as an instructor would be a freak Kettlebell accident but his form is impeccable and he is deceptively strong. Seriously though, Jordan has an eye for functional movement and an endless supply of corrective exercise to ensure you do it right from the beginning to the end. If your considering Kettlebell training or need help with your fitness just meet with Jordan and you will see what I am talking about.
Jordan really is the best in the business. I can't tell you how much I miss him since I moved away two years ago! I've looked for trainers all over Chicagoland, including Z-Health certified trainers, but no one measures up.
Jordan not only delivers results, he FIXES YOU. Not only do you end up strong and with a killer bod, but all those nagging pains and dysfunctions? Gone. He had my body moving/functioning better than it has my entire life. It may take some time, but he will have you doing movements you thought you couldn't do again, pain-free.
I still use the exercises and movement drills he taught me when I'm not performing my best. I have recurring problems with my shoulders and traps, as well as my calves/ankles. Before/during/after my workouts, when something doesn't feel right, I do them and notice an immediate difference. I'm looser, I move better, and have less/no pain. They also help lots with recovery!
In short: GO! He's worth it! And he's pretty funny to boot.
I am a student in a 10 year kung fu training program based on a remote mountain in Humboldt county. I live there most of the year, but spend some time in SF where I lived previously. My training schedule is 50-60 hours a week and is extremely physically rigorous. One of my fellow students got me interested in kettlebells as a tool to complement our normal conditioning routine and better prepare our bodies for this lifestyle, so I decided to seek out a trainer while I was in SF this summer. Based on many excellent reviews and a good intuition, I made the exceptionally wise choice of going to Jordan. I've never had a trainer before, so I have nothing to compare this experience to, but it's been fantastic. His knowledge of training technique and theory is both deep and broad. He does an excellent job communicating the finer points of technique that many lesser trainers probably overlook. I also have a great deal of trust in his ability to design an appropriate program for me and to give me the most effective and efficient training regimen possible. I've been training with him 3 weeks now and I already experience a difference in my strength, endurance, and general sense of well being. I can't recommend kettlebell training, and Jordan in particular, enough. Beyond the training itself , Jordan seems like a generous, friendly, and kind person as well, so extra points for that! =)
Although I had trained with kettlebells off and on for for a few years, I had never really committed myself enough to make a big difference. After a few sessions with Jordan, I'm stronger, have more endurance, my form is much better, and I've learned some new exercises, as well as ways to make my training both more effective and more demanding in less time. As a great trainer should, he does a fantastic job of pushing me further than I would normally go myself, but eases off before I plant my face in the deck. Likewise, he seems to be intuitively able to assess fitness levels so that the independent workouts he designs are just about perfect in terms of frequency and intensity.
Jordan is an exceptional trainer, and I would give him my absolute highest recommendation. I came to him looking for someone to help me get stronger and put on some muscle. I had worked briefly with 2 other personal trainers in the past, but I dropped them both after a month or two because I wasn't seeing results. With Jordan, I could tell from the beginning that the outcome would be different.
Initially, we focused primarily on the major lifts -- back squat, front squat, deadlift, bench press, military press, etc. I had done all of these exercises before, and they seemed easy enough, but little did I know what I was missing out on. With Jordan's expert instruction, I learned so many of the nuances of proper form that I didn't know before, and after a few months I felt like I had mastered these movements. As someone who has had my fair share of prior injuries and "tweaks" (ruptured ACL, muscle tears/sprains, etc.), this was very important to me since the last thing I wanted to do was blow out my back or tear a bicep while doing a heavy deadlift, or re-sprain my ACL-deficient knee while squatting. Jordan helped me avoid hurting myself while making me even stronger.
Jordan always kept my workouts interesting by mixing in different assistance exercises and also some kettlebell work. Sometimes when working out on my own, I would text him with a question about the workout he had designed for me, and he would typically respond right away with an answer -- that showed his dedication. During our sessions, we also spent a fair amount of time doing mobility work -- using a foam roller, yoga balls, etc. Honestly, at first this sometimes seemed like a waste of time, but as the months went by, I realized that this mobility work was crucial to help me recover faster from my workouts and stay injury-free. After half a year of working with Jordan, I was able to put on a solid 10 pounds of muscle, and I was very satisfied with my progress.
Overall, I would recommend Jordan to anyone. His session rate may seem expensive, but he is literally the best in the business, and the knowledge you'll gain and progress you'll make while working with him makes any money you spend 100% worth it. He's also a great guy in general -- with his unique sense of humor, your sessions with him will be something you enjoy and look forward to each time. I've never bothered to write a review on Yelp for anything before, so hopefully that gives you a sense of the high regard I have for him. If you're looking for a personal trainer and you're thinking about Jordan, just give him a call and try him out, and after a couple sessions with him, you'll be very happy that you did!
Today I had trouble walking because of Jordan. The soreness in my quads, inner thighs and glutes are exactly why I give him five stars.
As a fellow personal trainer, I have pretty high standards for exercise instruction but I can assure you that Jordan knows his stuff.
He uses his expertise to educate as well as train clients. He is able to make very detailed corrections to form, structure solid workouts and is passionate about Kettlebells. With Jordan you are not going to get false praise to inflate your ego, mindless counting of reps or trendy workouts that he just pulled out of a fitness magazine. You will get schooled in solid form, challenged at an appropriate level and some refreshingly dry humor.
I've known Jordan for almost four years and every one of my experiences in working with him have been positive. I first met him when he taught a first rate kettlebell workshop at Equinox in San Mateo. From that time until now, I have personally seen his constant growth and never ending commitment to improving his trade as a personal trainer.
I have had the pleasure of training one on one with Jordan and the result of every session was some improvement or eureka moment. He helped me pass the RKC snatch test and has always been helpful and available when discussing the business of personal training, especially in the realm of Z-Health.
For his professionalism and expertise, I definitely give him the highest recommendation as a fitness professional.
I moved to Palo Alto for the year and want to try to get fit. I found Jordan on Yelp, tested him out, and he has just bowled me over. I've been with Jordan for about a month and he is truly the most knowledgeable, efficient, reliable, expert trainer I have ever encountered -- and a deeply nice human being to boot. I came with all sorts of infrastructure problems - bum knees, general soreness, etc. -- and Jordan's off-the-charts knowledge of human musculature and anatomy had my problems solved in about a month -- and I have also had 2 years of physical therapy for these ailments which didn't do much for me. Jordan thinks about the body in a way that is quite special and unique. He is very expensive, but what you're paying for is his unparalleled expertise. I couldn't recommend him more highly and only wish I could clone him and bring him back with me to New York City. He is in a word or three, a gem, amazing, spectacular. If you are serious about health and fitness, there is to my mind (and I am a picky New Yorker) no one better.
I have been having on and off knee pain for the last 4 years. 2 months ago my pain had become pretty unbearable. I wasn't able to walk properly. I went to physical therapists and chiros but nothing worked.I was pretty desperate for a cure because I was heading on a 10 day euro trip and needed to be able to walk. I heard about Jordan's miracle powers to cure pain and I went to see him. 3 sessions, that's all it took for the pain to go away. I have seen so many doctors and no one knew what was going on but Jordan was able to connect the dots. I religiously followed his instructions, even during my euro trip. I exercised every day the way he taught me. I walked on an average 15K steps per day during my trip without any pain. Before Jordan, I couldn't even walk 1K steps without searing pain. What I loved about Jordan is that he teaches you to self sustain. Thank you Jordan for giving me a pain free knee!
I was an obese and very sedentary software engineer. I had a knee dislocation and impact fracture. I went to physical therapists who did a good job of getting me back on my feet, but, with limited resources, I could only recover partially. I am a tenacious autodidact. I spent a lot of time learning online, from reviews of exercise medicine research and spent many hours in the gym to lose 8 inches in waist and be able to lift weights and run. I still had lots of swelling, pain, inability to do simple things like going down stairs, walking downhill, lunges, etc. even after 1 year of rigorous exercise. I could not use my legs to swim either as it would swell up and be stiff for few days. My recovery plateaued for over an year. I used to be scared to do many physical activities, even getting up from floor. Being unable to do such tasks I had taken for granted before, made me depressed. I almost gave up hope. I moved to Palo Alto. After reading about Jordan on his website, I could tell that he was also a perfectionist, highly knowledgeable and very thorough when it comes to anatomy and exercises to prevent and heal injuries. As a recent grad, I had just started earning, but I could tell that an investment in fixing my knee problem would prevent lots of problems later and also improve my quality of life. For my first session, I was pleasantly surprised at the speed of improvement in just first 15 minutes. He emphasizes a lot on soft tissue work which might seem like a waste of time at first. I have been averaging more than 50 hours of computer usage since I was 11 years old. It had led to such severe RSI that it used to take me long time to fall asleep due to hand pain. I had gone for dozens of therapy sessions in India as well as in San Diego over 9 years. I had to get 90 minute massage every 2 weeks just to reduce the pain to be able to sleep. I told Jordan about this in the second session. He taught me specific soft tissue work that takes 10 mins. I did this religiously everyday for 10 days. I gave feedback every time I saw him and he kept fine tuning the soft tissue work. I was pain free in 2 weeks. I mean 100% pain free which I never thought was possible. I wish I had met him 9 years ago and my life would have been very different with many medals in sports. I still have to do this soft tissue work to stay painfree but it only takes 20 mins per week and can be done while watching TV and is free unlike messages. I discuss a lot of things during rests between sets. He guided me on choosing shoes. That itself led to reduction in knee pain from running and improved performance. My leg feels amazing. From DEXA scans, I could see that I had completely reversed the atrophy. When I went to him, I was only hoping to fix my knee. I got lot more than that. I still see him as my goals have changed to overall health improvement as being healthy is a feeling that is unmatched.
When I first discovered kettlebells I realized that I needed to spend time learning as much as possible. I did end up hurting myself with poor form and decided that I had to find a competent trainer to put me on the right track.
Jordan showed me where my form was lacking and shared many tips on how to perform the movements correctly. He is extremely detail oriented but his delivery keeps things simple and easy to understand.
If you are serious about kettlebell training (or even if it is secondary to your main training methods) and you live in the Bay Area I can't recommend Jordan's services enough. He's friendly honest and direct.
Your future fitness will thank you.
I've been seeing Jordan for over 6 months now.
I was looking for more then strength conditioning. I needed help in correcting movement issues and then optimizing my flexibility and strength. Years of desk work compounded with some old injuries had taken their toll, and my DIY approach with dumbbells wasn't cutting it. I wanted to find a trainer that would integrate kettlebell training with whatever corrective exercises I would need.
Jordan started with movement screening and gave me stretches and exercises designed to rehabilitate my lost flexibility. As my flexibility increased I was seeing far more strength increases than I expected. Seasonal joint aches disappeared, and my overall endurance and functional strength has exceeded my expectations.
I've got a way to go to meet my goals, but I know that with Jordan that I will surpass them.
Figured it was time to update this review since it's been over a year. I started working with Jordan to get in shape for my wedding last year and I've stuck with it because it has beyond exceeded my expectations.
As a trainer, Jordan knows his stuff. Everything he teaches he actually does himself, so he's extremely familiar with the exercises and is great at troubleshooting and knowing when to push or let you rest.
He's got a solid knowledge base about kettlebells and general conditioning/training and is constantly educating himself about the latest developments/trends in his field.
With kettlebells the workouts are shorter (albeit harder), the results are better, and you don't need 50 different machines to get it done. Everybody asks me how I can possibly get a workout from swinging a kettlebell. Keep in mind that at PAK you won't be swinging a 5 lb KB (at least, not for long). Jordan has said that most of his female clients will start with around a 26 lb KB or heavier and progress upward from there. The KBs come in a wide range of weights, with the heaviest one being over 100 lbs.
To sum up:
**If you are not opposed to working hard, kettlebell workouts will give you a great workout in a short amount of time.
**Jordan is an excellent trainer and I'd recommend him to anyone without hesitation. You WILL get better results with his guidance and with KBs you need a good instructor, especially when you start out.
**I would give PAK 10 stars if I could. Seriously.
I know Jordan thru the Russian Kettlebell community. initially his videos helped me get strong to help prepare for my RKC cert.
After attaining my cert I personally befriended him as I started exploring the Z-health training system. He has always been quick to help or answer my questions. I consider him one of the few trainers whose advice I can trust.
I have no problem recommending anyone who is interested in better performance, whether for a sport, or just for a healthier, more mobile body, to GO TRAIN WITH JORDAN!
And he also has a snarky sense of humor, which pretty much mimics my own.
I just look better doing it.
I first started working with Jordan about a year ago, and I have to say, it has been a great experience from day one. Coming into my first visit, I felt like I was in pretty decent shape, as I've played sports for most of my life and worked out consistently for as long as I can remember.
I had mainly come in with the mindset that I'd work with Jordan for a few sessions to build up a good foundation in kettlebell workouts so that I could work with them safely on my own. To my surprise, within just a few minutes and a couple of fitness level tests, Jordan was able to successfully identify and zero in on a number of things that were holding me back from really reaching my potential. I had some lingering injuries and ailments as well as flexibility issues, so his noticing wasn't entirely impressive as I would expect as much from a fitness professional. What WAS impressive, however, was how, with just a few small drills (and accompanying explanations), we were able to have a noticeable impact on some of the pain as well as flexibility.
A few weeks later, I had a better posture, felt better, and was already building strength, despite working with much lighter weights. I had also learned a ton about my body, and how to take better care of it (and no, I'm not just talking about nutrition). Fast forward a year, and I feel like I'm still continuing to make forward progress.
One of the things that I've really appreciated about working with Jordan is his flexibility and adaptability. I picked up rock climbing a few months ago and my resulting fitness goals have changed dramatically. Jordan has been able to adapt the exercises and plans to help me meet my goals in better ways than I could have imagined.
For anyone on the fence about seeing Jordan, I'd say to A2E a couple of weeks and really try to incorporate some of the stuff you learn into your every day life. Your body will thank you 🙂
ordan makes me quiver. In a healthy non-sexual way of course!!
I am a lifelong athlete who joined the throngs of 20-somethings chained to a computer 9 hours a day slamming coffee, carbs, and one too many happy-hour cocktails - and only exercise was getting up to grab another cookie. So 20 pounds later I was feeling like a shell of my old kick ass B-baller self, completely out of shape, depressed and feeling helpless. I had attempted to get back into working out many times and always came across the same roadblocks - No Time, No Results and ultimately BOREDOM!! I hate the gym - and I hate paying a high-school dropout who happens to have a decent body and no personality more than $90 an hour to tell me how to do a sit up.
Before Jordan left I had one 30 minute session with him and could not walk straight for three days. I knew it worked alright. I was bummed when he was deployed and figured I would try it on my own until he got back (yeah right) and was incredibly relieved that he returned quickly. I jumped at the opportunity to start training and have absolutely no regrets.
To date I have had 5 sessions with Mr. Vezina and here's what I love:
Our sessions fit nicely into my lunchbreak and are OUTDOORS on a beautiful park field in Palo Alto, no stinky gym people to fight over equipment with, my ass is (even more) fabulous than before and getting firmer by the second, I am getting stronger and much more balanced and have an incredible amount of energy all of a sudden, I now aspire to be on the show "Fight Girls" and will probably join Jordan in opening a Kettle Bell Academy (only for people who "rock"). I have gotten back in touch with my body and am starting to feel like an athlete again for the first time in over 6 years.
OH! and the best part of all came today! I had my last session with my "other" trainer that I had pre-paid 6 sessions with after not seeing her for a month. She took me through a pretty kick ass workout and I pretty much rocked it. So much so that she and two other random gym-goers went out of their way to aknowledge the awesome power of my squat/side-kicks and cat-like balance on the Bosu Ball as I performed one-legged squats like a pro. My trainer said "wow - our workouts really have paid off!" 😉 HA HA HA! Hell to the no woman - the big metal balls I've been throwing around lately are what's working (he he) and I can't believe it's only been 5 sessions!! I can tell I'm laying a very solid foundation - my core, my glutes and my thighs are feeling quite solid - and I know I will start seeing many more physical transformations in the weeks to come.
I can honestly say that after trying almost every single type of workout imaginable - Kettle Bell training with Jordan is the most EFFICIENT, CHALLENGING, FUN, RESULTS-ORIENTED, and all around BAD ASS Workout I have ever done!!! YEAH JORDAN - YOU ROCK MY BODY!! 😉
There isn't much I can add to the awesome, glowing reviews - other than it is all true! After not exercising for 1.5 years because of a frozen shoulder, I decided it was time to get into shape. My clothes were not fitting well. I'm really glad I called Jordan - he knows how to challenge you without risking injury (he is not a fan of the phrase "no pain no gain"). He's a stickler about technique and watches you like a hawk - there's no poor form on his watch. If you do have any issues - like my recurring neck stiffness or the random jaw pain that I got after getting a cavity filled, he suggests some mobility exercises, confidently says it'll be better in a few days, and boom, it's 100% better in a few days. Like others have said, he knows A LOT - about the neuromuscular system, nutrition, etc. - and does a great job explaining the whys and hows. Long and short, I look forward to every session - I work hard, I have fun, I don't get injured, and my clothes are definitely fitting better. I highly recommend Jordan to anyone who is looking for a personal trainer - he's the best!
I trained with Alyssa Chang for most of 2012 and would have continued training with her if I didn't move away from Palo Alto last January. She is extremely attentive and knows exactly how hard to push you without making you feel sick afterwards. Alyssa will also make sure your form is solid. The workouts were constantly varying so I never got bored.
One of the things I really liked about Alyssa's training style are her post-workout followups. She is great at following up after workouts to see how I am feeling and also provided helpful feedback on my diet when I showed her my food log. Even when I was traveling for work, she would email me to see how I was feeling. I'm 31 now and have never been in better shape my whole life.
As a software engineer who sits in front of the computer most of the day, I can't say there is a single other investment I've made in my life so far that makes me feel better about myself on a daily basis than training with Alyssa.
Even though I've moved to San Francisco and have a new trainer there, if I ever have to spend time in Palo Alto for more than a few days for business I will try to schedule a training session with her. She's THAT good!

I wasn't sure what to expect when I first signed up for sessions with Jordan. I had barely any exposure to kettle bells and my goal was to simply get lose pounds and get lean. Over the course of the first few sessions, Jordan went to great lengths to address any past/present injuries and mobility issues because it was paramount to him that the body be well-prepared for kettle bell training. At first I was anxious to get started on an intense work-out but all those earlier prep sessions paid off as I found myself becoming pain-free in areas that had troubled me before. His toolbox of exercises and tips helped heal my low back pain, inner knees issues, and a particular twinge in my hip region. He was also careful about teaching me proper form when using kettle bells as it becomes important the more one loads weight. Over time, I found myself growing stronger, more stable, and integrated--particularly helpful to me since I am hyper flexible and needed to develop more muscle strength. There was certainly a method to his "madness" as when he finally ramped up the intensity level, I was more than capable of handling it, while still feeling challenge of exertion. Also of note, he changed the way I perceived the method of becoming lean towards a healthier, long-term, sustainable approach that included diet and body composition as opposed to monitoring the scale and simply exercising to try to drop pounds.
Jordan's vast wealth of knowledge and expertise is amazing and I immediately trusted his guidance as I could tell he had his client's best interest in mind. Jordan has been excellent at responding to any questions/needs I had and this helped encourage me in my practice of kettle bell training. I've discovered that kettle bell training is an excellent complement to my strong yoga practice and now I've incorporated it into my regular routine.
One last (but not least) thing I'll always remember was when I first signed up for sessions with him, some personal issues prevented me from showing up to a few of them. After a long break, I resumed training with him and he generously gave me back the sessions I missed because he wanted to motivate me into getting back on track and see the changes I was desiring. So there you have it; not only is he excellent at what he does, he also has a heart. Don't let his seemingly tough exterior fool you.
